Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A 38-year-old man who had been missing since Saturday afternoon was found dead inside a deep freezer at a vegetarian biryani shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Sunday morning, police said. The body of Vijay Pal was recovered from the freezer of the temporary eatery located opposite GCRG College. Authorities said there were no apparent injury marks on the body, and the cause of death remains unclear.
According to police, the shop is a makeshift structure with tin walls on three sides and no gate. The freezer in which the body was found was reportedly disconnected, and the shop had remained closed for the past three days. A senior officer said the identity of the deceased was confirmed, and officials are in contact with his family members.
The body was discovered by the shop owner, Ajay, a resident of Bakshi’s Talab, when he arrived at the premises to collect supplies. Upon checking the deep freezer, he found the man inside and immediately informed the police.
Investigators identified Vijay Pal through his mobile phone and Aadhaar card recovered from the spot. Police also noted an unusual detail during the preliminary inquiry: one of the victim’s slippers was found on a street corner near the college, while the other was located inside the shop.
Police have initiated further investigation to ascertain how the man ended up inside the freezer and to determine the exact cause of death. Officials said all angles are being examined as part of the probe.
